The function arranged by Rotary Club of Muthupetti to plant as many as 5000 saplings in the areas falling under Muthupettai Panchayat was held on Saturday wherein Karuppu took part as a ‘special guest’.The office-bearers of the Rotary Club and many locals took part in the event which took place in the night.
Besides Karuppu, Kollywood was represented by actor Shanmugarajan and Nizam Raja, producer of films such as Sarithiram and Rameswaram. ‘Datho’ Ram, a leading industrialist hailing from Malaysia, was another chief guest at the event. As usual, Karuppu spoke briefly and urged the people to plant more and more saplings.
Shanmugarajan, who runs a drama troupe in Madurai for the past many years, said that he had been holding many plays to create awareness among the public about the need to plant saplings to make their localities eco-friendly. Soon, he is planning to stage another play to create this awareness among the student community. Ram said he’d cover the expenses relating to the stage play proposed to be conducted by Shanmugarajan.
