National award-winning actor Dhanush has got a huge reprieve with the Madurai Bench of the High Court of Madras quashed an appeal filed with it by the Melur couple of Kathiresan and Meenatchi.
The couple had earlier claimed that Dhanush was actually their son who had gone missing in the early part of las decade. Taking up their case, the Madurai Bench directed Dhanush to file his birth certificate and other educational certificates. Based on the filing of these certificates, the Madurai High Court stayed the proceedings of the case in Melur Court.
The couple filed an appeal with the Madurai Bench stating that certificates filed by Dhanush were fake ones and sought to cancel the verdict given based on those fake certificates. They had also sought criminal proceedings against the actor for filing fake certificates.
The judgment in the case, which was reserved earlier, was delivered yesterday when the Madurai Bench of the High Court of Madras held that the appeal filed by the couple was ‘untenable’ and quashed the appeal.
