Curvaceous Ileana D’Cruz has stated that the trend of sex-for-films offer still existed in the industry. “I can’t expose the culprits as I want to be in films at least for a few more years,” said the actress.
The picture-perfect actress, who debuted in Tamil films more than a decade back with Kedi as Ravikrishna’s heroine (Tamannaah played her only negative role in this film), went on to make a name for herself in Tollywood. She made a brief return to Tamil films to pair up opposite Vijay in Shankar’s Nanban (Tamil remake of the Hindi hit film 3 Idiots) which released a few years back.
Ileana’s revelation comes close on the heels of many such revelations by Hollywood and Bollywood actresses. Joining the ‘MeToo’ bandwagon, Ileana said “It is indeed true that actresses undergo all sorts of sexual harassment including receiving the ‘sex-for-films’ offer. If the actresses reveal the names of those (film-makers) involved in such offers, their career would be finished there and then.
“Though it appears cowardly in nature, this is the reason which keeps actresses from revealing the culprits’ names. I was once consulted by an actress as to how to spurn the sex-for-films offer from a South Indian film producer and I told her that it would be better for her to decide her future on her own,” concludes Ileana.
