Bindu Madhavi who debuted in ‘Veppam’ came in for unexpected praise at the recent audio-launch of her upcoming film Kazhugu opposite Krishna. Taking part in the function, director-producer Selvamani said that in his opinion, Bindu’s eyes resembled the sexy eyes of the late ‘Silk’ Smitha.
Shobha, producer-director and mother of actor Vijay, joined Selvamani and praised Bindu’s eyes. The audio cassettes and CDs of the film were released by S.A. Chandirasekaran. Shobha, who spoke at the venue, said that the visuals screened at the launch made her think that Bindu’s eyes looked exactly like that of ‘Silk’ Smitha.
“In fact, when we were watching those visuals, I told Chandirasekaran that Bindu resembled Smitha in more ways than one. He too agreed,” said Shobha. Selvamani, who has been staying away from film-making for more than a deade now, said that he felt that Bindu’s eyes were as expressive and attractive as Smitha’s.
Bindu Madhavi, who hosted the evening’s programme with her dialect mixed in Tamil and English, said she felt moved by the comparisons. She said, “Smitha is one of the most beautiful and talented actresses. She used to dance in an amazing manner. I really take it as a biggest compliment to be compared to an actress of such a stature.”
She also added that she was ready to play ‘Silk’ Smitha’s role if a film is made in Tamil based on the late actress’ life.
