The release and distribution rights abroad of actor Ajith’s upcoming film Billa-2 have reportedly been sold at a record, unprecedented price of almost US $1,000,000, it is reported.
Ajith is in the final stages of shooting for Billa-2 which has beauty queen Parvathy Omanakuttan as his heroine besides Brazilian scorcher Bruna Abdullah. The film, sequel to Ajith’s 2007 hit film Billa, is directed by Chakri Toleti. The film has raised huge expectation amid the fans of Ajith and there has been a clamour among distributors to secure the film’s distribution and release rights in the State and elsewhere.
Meanwhile, it is reported that GK Media has secured the release and distribution rights of the film abroad for a whopping cost of Rs.5.30 crores which is roughly one million US dollars.
It is significant to note that none of Ajith’s earlier films have been sold at such a high cost. Even Mankatha, said to be Ajith’s most successful film in his career, was sold for Rs.3.7 crores. Superstar Rajini’s films are usually sold for Rs.15 crores. With Billa-2, Ajith joins the top bracket of stars whose films are sold for record prices.
