Veteran actress Bhanupriya is all set to dub for actress Keerthy Suresh’s character of late and legendary actress Savitri in the latter’s biopic, which is being made as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual.
Titled as Mahanati in Telugu and Nadigaiyar Thilagam as Tamil, the film has Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha and Vijay Devarakonda in lead roles. Eyebrows were raised in several quarters when Keerthy Suresh, who has been in films only for the past two-and-a-half years but who has been bagging important films opposite frontline heroes, was chosen to play Savitri in the film.
However, a recent promotional poster showing Keerthy as Savitri drove home the fact that the film’s makers had, after all, made the right decision by casting Keerthy in Savitri’s role. Keerthy, who speaks fluently in Tamil, would get a dubbed voice in the film’s Tamil and Telugu version with veteran actress Bhanupriya being roped in to dub for Keerthy’s character.
Bhanupriya, who once possessed an hourglass figure and was described as a resembling a ‘Roman Goddess’ by a leading film-maker, had starred opposite the likes of superstar Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Vijayakanth and Karthik in the nineties and was known for her amazing dancing skills and acting instincts. The dubbing work of the bilingual film is in progress and it is slated to release in theatres on 09th May.
