South Indian thespian Thilakan is no more.Thilakan made an impressive debut in 1972 with the flick Periyar and went on to achieve a legacy of his own. He was battling for life for the past few months, admitted on August 23rd.
Delivering National and State award winning performances, the last four years were tough for him, locking horns with Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and also facing a ban. Thilakan’s acting talent also saw him do Kollywood movies in Chatriyan,Mettukudi and Nee Venunda Chellam.He was visited by friends and family at the hospital giving him hope to fight the prolonged pneumonia attacks.He was on and off the ventilator at a private hospital in Trivandrum.Doctors had quoted his condition to be critical as he had a multiple organ failure last month.Thilakan breathed his last today morning (Monday) 3:30 after a cardiac arrest. His body will be kept for public viewing at the Victoria Jubilee Memorial Townhall in Trivandrum from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.He is survived by his two sons and two daughters.Mollywood actor Vineeth Sreenivas said, “Death will not kill him. He’ ll live in us. We love you Thilakan sir.”
