Hema Malini has been bestowed with a unique distinction.Hailing from the Tiruchirappalli district in Tamil Nadu, Hema settled down in Bollywood, after her marriage to Dharmendra in 1980 and recently their daughter Esha tied the knot with diamond merchant Bharat Takhtanj.
Hema and her two daughters Esha and Ahana were present at the 10th annual Bollywood Festival in Norway. It came as a pleasant surprise for her when the announcement for a new stamp in honour of Hema’s contribution to Indian cinema was unveiled. Fondly called Dream girl by her fans, the Hema-Dharmendra jodi was a hit in the early 70s , the list including Sharafat, Tum Haseen Main Jawan, Naya Zamana, Raja Jani.Hema’s very last collaboration with the Tamil actor was in Kamal Hassan’s ‘Hey Ram’.Being honored by the Norwegian government , Hema observes, “It was after performance I was honored with the stamp. Abhi tho meri umar nahin rahi to jump and express my feelings ( It’s not my age to jump and express…). But yes I am happy to be one of the Indians who have been bestowed with such a great honor in a foreign country.”
