Ilayathalapathy Vijay and renowned lyricist Vairamuthu released the audio of the Tamil version of Urumi(Urumi- Padhinaintham Nootrandu Uraivaal) in Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai on Nov 15th. Vijay released the first audio CD and the same was received by Vairamuthu who has written the lyrics in Tamil version. Mani Ratnam,AR Murugadoss,Arwind Swamy,SJ Suryah, Bharath and others also graced the dias.
Directed by Santhosh Sivan, the movie featuring Prithviraj, Prabhu Deva, Arya, Genelia and Nithya Menon in the lead was already released in Malayalam on March 31 and is scheduled to be released in Tamil in December.
To the surprise, none of the stars from the film including Prithviraj,Arya,Prabhu Deva,Genelia,Tabu and Vidya Balan were present on the occasion.
Three songs and a trailer were screened, with Mani Ratnam, AR Murgadoss and SJ Suryah releasing each song before it was screened. Yesteryear heartthrob Arvind Swamy was seen after a long time in the public event with refreshing hair look.
Vijay expressed his happy that he would be getting to work with Sivan in his upcoming film directed by AR Murgadoss where Sivan is the Cameraman.
Mani Ratnam while praising Sivan immensely said, “He is nothing short of a magician. He has more than fifteen ideas up his sleeve at any time and many more hidden away. He takes an interest in every aspect of a film. I saw the Malayalam Urumi and I think its amazing how he has made such a great film in such a small budget.”
Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu praised Sivan saying, “He has a very different perspective of cinema and his camera captures his viewpoint which is vastly different from the common mans. Even the skin tones of the actors on screen is captured differently by him.”
