‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan turned 57 yesterday. The actor, who is busily shooting for his upcoming film Viswaroopam, also doubles up as the director of the film which has debutant Pooja Kumar (an NRI based in US) opposite him as the heroine. On the eve of his birthday, Kamal has issued a thoughtful message to his fans.
“What message shall I give my fans on the eve of my birthday? I only expect my fans to ‘raise’ the quality of their taste vis-à-vis patronizing films with good scripts. Only then my work as an actor would be complete; my rise as an actor depends on their taste. If their expectation remains high, I’d try to deliver films befitting their expectations.

“All I’d like to tell my fans is that I firmly believe that my status as an actor and the fame I have managed to earn are just temporary. If we’re able to leave something fruitful for our successive generations to follow, we would have done our jobs. For example, keeping our surroundings clean is of utmost importance. I have always tried to do it on my own and to inculcate this habit in my fans.
“I have always tried to involve my fans in socially relevant activities and would continue to do so. In my opinion, my fans should also be my harsh critics. An artiste is like a flower. I know how to preserve it: criticisms shouldn’t dampen the flower’s fragrance and it should be watered regularly to remain fresh. I expect my fans to remain my friends as well as by harsh critics,” the message concludes thus.
Let’s wish Kamal Haasan many more successful years in future!
