Xiaomi, a company that has been under scanner for a couple of odd incidences with regards to its top-selling phone aka the Redmi Note 4, has come out and urged buyers to refrain from tampering with their phones. Previously, it had come out and urged buyers to refrain from using third-party accessories like chargers to charge their Xiaomi phones.
The communication came after an unfortunate incident in Andhra Pradesh wherein a Redmi Note 4 was said to have exploded into flames while inside the user’s pocket, sustaining injury in the process. Upon investigation, it was found by Xiaomi that, an “extreme external force was applied to the device, which led to the back cover and battery being bent and screen getting damaged.” The company is further investigating the matter to find out exactly what went wrong.
Xiaomi urged its customers to avoid opening the device, puncturing the battery or applying extreme physical force to the device. It also asked users to refrain from getting their smartphones repaired at unauthorized repair shops.
