Velayudham, Vijay’s forthcoming flick directed by Jayam Raja, is much-awaited this Deepavali. Touted as the costliest Vijay film ever, Velayudham is gearing up to offer a festive treat for filmgoers. This is the first time Jayam Raja has come out of the comfort zone of his family production house and his brother, Jayam Ravi, who has been the hero of all of Raja’s Tamil ventures.
While Vijay’s image has grown by leaps and bounds since Kaavalan, his last release in January this year, will Velayudham turn out to be another winner for the hero this year?
Here is a sneak preview:
A tailor-made story for Vijay, who is a hit with the young and the old alike. How an ordinary village youth becomes a leader is told in an interesting way. Genelia and Hansika are the female leads. Genelia will be seen as a spirited journo. Saranya Mohan plays Vijay’s sister. Tom Delmar, the stunt co-ordinator of projects such as Braveheart, has choreographed an extremely tricky train sequence for Velayudham. 30 comedians are in the fray in Velayudham and heading the battalion is ace comedian Santhanam, who is today a part of almost every Kollywood film.
Adding to the ‘masala quotient’ is Vijay Antony’s music — the songs are already topping the charts.
Director’s Word: Jayam Raja was upbeat and confident about the film. “The film has a mass appeal and sends out a strong message. I wanted a hero with a mass image and I couldn’t think of anyone else other than Vijay,” he said.
Vijay’s Velayudham seems to have all the right ingredients to become a crowd-puller of B and C audience and should be another winner for the hero.
