Former Tamil Nadu chief-minister O. Panneerselvam has filed fresh documents with the Election Commission of India to drive home his point that the faction led by him is the ‘original AIADMK’.
EC had earlier asked both the factions to file more documents with it to take a final call on the sustainability of appointment of jailbird Sasikala as the general secretary of the party (when the party hadn’t broken into two) and to decide which faction of the AIADMK – among the OPS and EPS factions – was the ‘original’ party which deserved to be allotted the frozen poll symbol of ‘Two-Leaves’.
EPS headed a meeting of his faction on Thursday and passed a resolution stating that Dinakaran’s appointment as deputy general secretary of the party wasn’t valid as the very appointment as general secretary of jailbird Sasikala, who appointment Dinakaran, was itself under a cloud. In the meantime, OPS’ faction has enclosed a copy of the resolution passed by EPS faction in the list of documents furnished to EC.
Manoj Pandian, Semmalai, Ma Foi Pandiaranaj, K.P. Munuswamy and Naththam Viswanathan filed the documents on behalf of the OPS faction of the AIADMK.
