Former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president EVKS Elangovan has predicted that Dinakaran, candidate of the ruling ‘jailbird’ Sasikala-led faction of the AIADMK for the R.K. Nagar by-polls, may even forfeit his security deposit as he might lose by huge margin.
Speaking to newsmen at Coimbatore Airport yesterday, EVKS was in his elements. “Accused Dinakaran is contesting the R.K. Nagar by-polls; he would be sent to prison irrespective of whether he loses of wins the by-polls. I’m sure people of R.K. Nagar would certainly not favour an accused representing them in the State Assembly.
“Dinakaran claims he would win by a margin of 50,000 votes but in my humble opinion, he might even forfeit his security deposit. In all probability, the DMK may win from R.K. Nagar as the ruling AIADMK’s votes would be split among Dinakaran, Madhusudanan and Deepa. I appeal to VCK president Thirumavalavan to openly support the DMK candidate,” he said.
On another note, he said that the Election Commission of India might freeze the famed ‘Two-Leaves’ symbol of the AIADMK as the factions led by former chief-minister O. Panneerselvam and ‘jailbird’ Sasikala are pressing hard for retaining the symbol.
