Senior AIADMK leader and OPS faction of AIADMK’s R.K. Nagar candidate Madhusudanan has said that Dinakaran was an ‘outsider’ and that he didn’t consider him as an even competitor.
R.K. Nagar in Chennai fell vacant with the demise of former chief-minister Jayalalithaa who won from the seat twice in two years in 2015 and 2016. As per poll schedule, the by-polls are to be held on 12th April. Both the ‘jailbird’ Sasikala-led faction and the OPS faction of the AIADMK, besides Deepa, contest the by-polls. Madhusudanan, who had earlier won from the seat in 1991, sounds confident of his victory now.
“Jayalalithaa had plenty of goodwill in me and I reposed it. However, I didn’t get to contest the polls due to Sasikala’s evil intention. We contest the upcoming by-polls as part of our ‘war of justice’ to get justice and arrest those responsible for Jayalalithaa’s untimely demise. I’m quite popular in the locality whereas Dinakaran is an outsider. I don’t consider him as an even competitor at all.
“I have been residing in this locality for more than the past 50 years and I can sense the people’s mood. We shall win by a handsome margin and would give a fitting reply to the money and muscle power of the ruling AIADMK faction,” he said, replying to a statement by Dinakaran (Sasikala faction’s candidate) wherein he said he would win the by-polls by a margin of more than 50,000 votes.
