Pudhhiya Padhai (New Way) and House full received national awards, the man behind them Parthiban as we all know has been a creative out burst, an urge to do something different in movies has also been evident where he has been involved. An example of his creativity is the movie Kudaikkul Mazhai (Rain inside the Umbrella) was a bravo attempt for Indian cinema and in recent times Kirukkalgal (Scribbles) got published which was his first literary work.
The Actor-director Parthiban is also widely known for his goodwill in support of several social causes too one of them being body donation.
He recently held a meeting with those who pledge to donate their bodies to facilitate research and even presented them with certificates regarding the cause.
We caught up with him over the phone for a chat. Here is an excerpt.
So sir when did you decide for this noble cause?
I took the decision to donate my body 17 years ago for research purposes. At that time, ‘body donation’ as a concept wasn’t quite famous. There were no forms or guidelines then. I signed on a white paper, agreeing to donate my body after my death. But now, the concept has gained popularity and a lot of people are forthcoming.
We remember a poem about the same too in your book, could you elaborate on it?
In Kirukkalgal, I wrote a poem, Uy, which talks about the very concept. I would like to recite a few lines… Unnadham unara, uruvam uthir siruneeragam, kangal, kuruthi, idhyathodu, idu ittadhu uyir, kolla kollikku ullathum edu…. The poem was about how one should donate their body after death for a good cause rather than letting it become ash. A lot of people called me up and learnt about body donation after reading the poem.
Moving on to the professional front what has been on your scheduled sir?
I am busy with the dubbing for my forthcoming film Vitthagan. Lately, I’ve signed a movie, Ayyampettai Arivudainambi Kaliyaperumal Chandran, with director Agathiyan.
We wish you luck on your future projects and wait for more in your coming day sir.
We concluded wishing him for his act and the creative filmmaker the best.
