Megha Nair the 21 year old dusky beauty was recently in news for her role in Siruthai.
Did you think doing a mature role of a wife at 18 has affected you in a way?
“My first film was Thangam opposite Sathyaraj sir.
I played his wife in that film and I got a lot of offers after that project. I was just 18 when I acted in it.
But because of the mature look that I had to sport for my character in the film, people did not realize that I was just an 18-year-old girl.
Therefore, all the offers that came to me after that film were along the same lines as that of my role in that film.
As I wanted to do characters my age, I refused to take them up. Thankfully, I now have two films in which I play characters that are my age.”
We got close and had a little chat with her with respect to the details of her present projects, she says,
What’s keeping you busy these days?
“In Nellai Santhippu, I play the lead — a cheerful, bubbly girl while in Siruthai, in which Karthi and Tamannaah play the lead, I have a neat and important role. I play a cop in the film.”
How did Siruthai come along?
Elaborating on the role in Siruthai, the actress says,
“The director of Siruthai got to see one of my pictures shot for my other film Nellai Santhippu in a magazine and he was impressed.
He realized that I would fit the stylish cop’s role in his film and approached me for it. Probably, one other factor that helped me bag this role was my height.”
Are directors being choosy these days .Does physical appearance matter a lot for an actress?
“I really don’t know because I’m just an upcoming artist. But personally, I love my height and it has always worked to my advantage. A case in point would be Siruthai. Also, there are several top actresses who are tall. Anushka, for instance, is also tall. So, I think it all depends on the kind of films you do. As far as I’m concerned, I’m very satisfied with the way I am.”
Well, slowly and steadily she seems to climb the ladder. We all support her for being the slow and steady turtle and hope she soon leaves behind the rabbits.
