Who’s the hero? Who’s the hero? Does it ring in your head still? Well only if you made a chance to listen to this number, one thing is sure it will haunt you for the days to come.
Charming Andrea Jeremiah has magically swept us away with her number in Manmadhan Ambu; surprisingly the song already had a take with Kamal Haasan singing to it before she got it.
She just got back from a grand audio launch in Singapore.
We got a chance to meet her. Here is an excerpt.
So how did you get singing for this number, after all it was sung by Kamal Haasan in the first place; trying to sing over a male tune must be really an experience, isn’t it?
“I was shooting in Hyderabad when Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) called and asked if I’d be able to sing this song. At that point of time, I had no clue that it was for a Kamal Haasan film. I’ve worked with DSP before and I’ve always loved singing for him. So, I was hoping he’d wait till I was done with my shoot, and he was kind enough to do so!”
“When I met DSP, he asked me if I would like to hear the track of the song. He then played me not just any old rough track, but an actual finished product with Kamal’s voice in the lead. When the song was over, I was like, ‘And you called me in to do WHAT exactly?!’ He then explained that they’d decided a female voice would suit the song better and asked me to come over,” she explains.
“I was told that it’s a very stylish hero introduction sort of a song.
“Well, I had to match up to Kamal sir’s voice! And, I had to dig really deep to get the ‘boom’ effect that DSP wanted. And once it was done, I was afraid it sounded too masculine. But all credit goes to DSP for having faith in me!”
An interesting coincidence is that I’ve also sung a small solo verse in Karkha Karkha…, which was Kamal’s intro song in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. So I was secretly pleased about that.”
How has it been shooting for Maruvan?
“We’ve worked really hard for the film. But I’m not at liberty to say anything about the film.”
Is Idhu Malai Nerathu Mayakkam been renamed Maruvan?
“You’ll have to ask the director about that. I don’t have a say in the name game!”
Seems like she is adhering to strict instructions by the Directors.
So, what surprises await your fans this December?
“December is turning out to be a month of no film shoot and loads of singing assignments, which makes me very happy! Hopefully, I’ll resume shoot sometime in January.”
Thanks for your time Andrea we hope to hear more from you in the future and wish the movie to be released next week will escalate your fan following.
Andrea surely is handling the game of singing and acting well.
