After nearly two decades, the Power Rangers are finally getting a big screen reboot. According to the reports, the upcoming film will be a mature but playful approach on Haim Saban’s popular TV series.
The project will be directed by Dean Isrealite, known for Project Almanac. The script of the same has been penned by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who worked on X-Men: First Class. People close to the movie revealed that the character line-up would remain true to the original show’s character traits and will feature the original names of the Rangers.
The movie is expected to begin production in January 2016 in Vancouver and is scheduled to hit the screens on January 13, 2017.
As most of you would be aware, Dredd producer Adi Shankar’s unauthorized gritty take on Power Rangers made enough waves and put the property in limelight, yet, it would be interesting to see Isrealite’s mature but playful approach and how it connects with today’s mainstream audience.
