Black Panther’s actions might have ended a superhero civil war, but the first teaser for Marvel’s Black Panther shows that ruling over his nation state of Wakanda can be just as dangerous as any amount of crime-fighting. Friday’s teaser marks the first time audiences have seen Chadwick Boseman as the African hero, since his cinematic debut in Captain America: Civil War.
In the new spot, viewers are welcomed to the African kingdom of Wakanda, as Andy Serkis’ Klaw, in an interrogation room with Martin Freeman, labels it El Dorado. Plenty of action is shown in the kingdom of Wakanda, both futuristic and with swords and spears.
For Boseman’s own solo movie, he’ll be joined by Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan and Danai Gurira as the action relocates to T’Challa’s home, where civil unrest threatens to spiral into a potential worldwide conflict. As mentioned, the movie will also see the Marvel return of Freeman, reprising his role from Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Age of Ultron’s Serkis.
Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler, will hit the screens on February 16, 2018.
