Getting the feel of his Punjabi character right in ‘31st October’ proved to be a tough job for actor Vir Das

It took lots of efforts for stand-up comedian-turned-actor Vir Das to correctly essay the character of a simple and clean hearted Punjabi engineer Devender Singh in his upcoming movie ‘31st October’. The actor had to gain substantial weight in order to get the look of a Punjabi man right.

Vir, who will be seen sporting a moustache and beard for the character of Devender Singh, also had to work hard on his dialect. He is now eagerly awaiting the release of the movie after the project managed to garner accolades and rave reviews in the international circuit after being screened at various film festivals.

‘31st October’ which is based on the aftermath of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s brutal assassination features Vir Das and Soha Ali Khan essaying a Delhi based married couple. The two are forced to run for their lives after riots breakdown in the capital city post the killing of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The movie has been directed by National Award winner Shivaji Lotan Patil.
