A couple of days back, actress Rukmani Vijayakumar replaced Sneha as superstar Rajinikanth’s sister in his upcoming film Kochadaiyaan. As it always happens with each Rajini-starrer, expectations are running sky-high amid Rajini’s fans as to what would their ‘matinee idol’ have in store for them in his latest venture.
Incidentally, Kochadaiyaan is the first film in which Rajini would be working after recovering from the illness which afflicted him last April. The ‘man of the masses’ had attended the grand muhurat of his Rana on the morning of 29th April and fell ill on the same evening. It was his own grit and determination aided liberally by the prayers of millions of his fans the world over which saved him from his disorder and almost gave a new lease of life to him.
Kochadaiyaan is planned as an animated 3-D film and would be filmed using the ‘motion capture’ technique, the first Indian film to be made in that format. Though the reason for Sneha’s exit from the film was given as her ‘busy schedule’ with call-sheet dates, it was obvious to filmy buffs that it was a reason given for the ‘sake’ of giving some reason. Few would disagree with the fact that Sneha would never be too busy not to give call-sheet to be part of a Rajini-starrer.
Sneha left for Australia some time back and was invited by the crew of Kochadaiyaan to come to Chennai on 25th January for some technical requirements vis-à-vis the making of the film. Shena couldn’t make it and asked the makers to wait for 2-3 days more. The production side, however, couldn’t wait for her and went ahead and signed up Rukmani Vijayakumar in her place.
The technical ‘scanning’ has been done in the case of all actors except Rajinikanth, it is learnt. The film goes to floors on 15th of March. It has music by A.R Rahman and is cinematographed by Manoj Paramhansa.
