Cinematographer-turned-director K.V. Anand has been soaking in the accolades and appreciations that have been pouring in at his doorstep in the aftermath of the release of his latest film ‘Ko’. The film, starring Jiiva and newcomer Karthika in the lead, has become a runaway hit with the masses as well as the classes amid reports that the box-office collections registering a steady rise ever since it released a fortnight back.
Actor Vijay reportedly called up Anand, who has made films like ‘Kanaa Kandein’ and ‘Ayan’ in the past, to congratulate him for making a ‘fast-moving’ film in ‘Ko’. Most of the frontline heroes, it seems, are more than willing to align themselves with Anand for his next film, now that the latter has consolidated on the huge reputation he gained through ‘Ayan’.
Before any of the heroes could catch hold of Anand, it’s the debutant hero Udhayanidhi who has sounded Anand to direct him in his next film. The hi-profile Udhayanidhi is presently starring in his debut film as hero with the film ‘Oru Kal Oru Kannaadi’ directed by M. Rajesh and has the beautiful Hansika (the latest flavour of Kollywood) opposite him.
Anand and Udhaya happen to be close pals for the past many years and as such, it’s highly likely that Anand would cede the latter’s request to direct him in his next film. As such, the burly director is said to have asked his script writer Subha to prepare a ‘rags-to-riches’ story which would be ‘just appropriate’ for an image-less hero like Udhayanidhi.
Readers might recall that it was Udhayanidhi who distributed ‘Ko’ through his Red Giant Movies. In all probability, it appears that Anand might first like to complete ‘Maatraan’ starring Suriya in the lead before taking up the Udhayanidhi-starrer.
