Pretty Tamannaah Bhatia a.k.a. Tamannaah is finding the land of Telugu films a happy hunting ground for her at least on the professional front. The actress, who hasn’t had any release in Tamil in the past six months, has been concentrating more on her pending projects in Tollywood. For the record, though, she insists that she’d return to Kollywood the moment she is offered an ‘exciting’ script.
Tamannaah is managing the competition from other leading heroines in Telugu such as Ileana, Kajal Aggarwal, Richa, Tapasee and Amala Paul. Trade circles in the neighboring State point out that as per the latest information available with them, Tamannaah happens to be the highest paid actress in Tollywood, with her fee per film ranging some-where between Rs.90 lakhs and above.
Kajal comes next in the list with Rs.80 lakhs followed closely by the curvaceous Ileana who gets Rs.75 lakhs per film while all other heroines get less than Rs.50 lakhs per film. As per the prevalent trend, producers and directors are willing to sign up Tamannaah by paying her fee though a single cheque/payment just prior to the commencement of the shooting schedule of the film. Tammu, however, doesn’t sign up before getting to know the script fully and what her character in the film would be.
Talking about her long absence from Kollywood, Tammu says: “I decide about accepting film offers depending upon my character in the film. The script has to be a good one for me to accept it. There are a few actresses who star in many films at a time; I’m not one among them. I believe in concentrating in one thing at a time. In fact, it took me more than three years to learn that focusing one’s energy on one film at a time pays rich dividends!”
