Reports say that Sun Pictures, part of the booming Sun Network group, has acquired the release and distribution rights of the ‘Jayam’ Ravi-Hansika Motwani starrer ‘Engeyum Kadhal’, directed by choreographer-actor-director Prabhudeva.
Producer Kalpathi Agoram reportedly ‘exchanged’ the film with Sun Pictures for a huge fee, it is said. It is further stated that the management of Sun Pictures first saw the film and then expressed its desire to release and distribute the film. Incidentally, Sun Pictures has also acquired the distribution of another Hansika starrer ‘Maappillai’ opposite Dhanush!
Though a few months have gone by since the film was completed, the release of the film has been put on hold in order to attract audience’s interest who have been hooked to their television sets as the cricket word cup is currently being played. The Cup would be followed within a week by the fourth edition of the hugely entertaining IPL which has again put Prabhudeva in a fix as to when to release his film.
Touted as the ‘grand’ debut of Tollywood sensation Hansika Motwani (surprisingly, she has three more films on floor), ‘Engeyum Kaadhal’ has music by Harris Jayaraj. In a rarity for Tamil films, the film has been shot entirely in locations abroad in many European countries and cities including Paris.
