S.P.B Charan, son of veteran playback singer S P Balasubramaniam, spent a rather troubled week last week. Item girl Sona Heiden had accused him of gross ‘misbehavior, physical abuse and molestation’.
After filing a FIR against the singer-actor-producer for allegedly assaulting her at a private party, she broke down and said she wanted a public apology from him. She is currently in hospital after a minor stroke.
In response to the accusation levied on him, Charan has retaliated by filing a defamation and criminal intimidation case against Sona. In his defence Charan says that the news being spread by Sona is false and is an attempt to defame him and his family.
Coming down heavily on Sona, Charan’s lawyer Kavitha Dheena Dhayalan from Nalini Chidambaram’s office spoke up on behalf of Charan here on today said that the allegation was meant to tarnish Charan’s image.
Kavitha says about the case, “Sona changes her statements every day. She gives inconsistent statements that clearly indicate that something else has motivated her to foist false and baseless complaints on Charan. It seems that she got admitted to hospital in the morning and got discharged the same evening. It is very clearly a publicity stunt the actress is known to have staged with other directors and producers too.”
Elaborating further on the case, “She has just mentioned her friend and her driver as witnesses in her complaint. The court did not accept this asking why only her own friend and driver should be witnesses in a public party.”
Reacting to the development in this case, Sona says, “From day one, those who were present at the party, have been changing their version of the story and I will file a case against them if these witnesses change their statement at the court. I will not settle for anything less than a public apology from S.P.B. Charan and only if he apologises in public will I withdraw my case.”
