Simbu a.k.a. STR appears to be the busiest star in Kollywood at present. The actor recently started shooting for ‘Osthi‘, which is the Tamil remake of the Bollywood super-hit action film which starred Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha. ‘Osthi’ also marks the debut of pretty Richa Gangopadhyaya as heroine in Kollywood. Veteran actress Revathy would be playing Simbu’s mother in the film, which is directed by Dharani, who has many hits to his credit.
It is said that the shooting of ‘Poda Podi’, which pits Simbu opposite Varalakshmi (daughter of Sarath Kumar), is almost complete. Yesteryear’s actress Shobhana, still busy in the dancing circuit, plays a significant role in the film, which is currently shot inPondicherry. Simbu is also on the verge of completing the shooting of ‘Vettai Mannan’ which has his real-life friend and actor Jai playing a significant role.
Jai, who hasn’t had a real ‘hit’ since his Subramaniapuram days, is hoping to bounce back into reckoning with this role, which supposedly has shades of ‘grey’. Simbu is said to be having as many as three heroines, with Tollywood’s stunning Deeksha Seth being rumoured as one of them. Hunt is on for a foreginer to play one of the three heroines to suit the script, reveals director Nelson.
A sequence featuring Simbu, Jai and 200-odd junior artistes was recently shot at the now-famous Binny Mill campus near the Chennai Airport. “This sequence would be one of the high-lights of the film,” adds Nelson and goes on to explain the sequence in detail. “It was an ‘auction’ sequence where the world’s worst mafia gang members meet and choose an assassin. Obviously, Simbu is chosen but for a whopping amount,” says Nelson.
We wish Simbu a hat-trick of hits with ‘Poda Podi’, ‘Vettai Mannan’ and ‘Osthi!
