The theatrical release of the much-awaited Mayakkam Enna has once again been postponed. The film brings together the irresistible brothers due of Selvaraghavan and Dhanush, seen and enjoyed by millions in films like Kaadhal Kondein and Puduppettai. Mayakkam Enna was to release on Deepavali last month but its release got delayed due to Selvaa’s indisposition.
The film pairs newcomer Richa Gangopadhyaya opposite Dhanush. Dhanush and Selvaa have also penned lyrics in the film and Dhanush has also sung one of them. Dhanush thus becomes the first national award-winning actor who has penned a lyric and sung the same in his film too.
Trade pundits say that the film, which was to release on Deepavali on 26th October, was actually postponed mainly because of the release of Vijay’s Velayudham and Suriya’s 7aam Arivu slated for that day. Obviously, Selvaa didn’t want to risk his film in the face of two big-budget movies, it was pointed out.
Selvaa later tweeted that Mayakkam Enna might hit the screens by November end. As Simbu’s Osthe is slated to release in the last week of November, the Dhanush-starrer might be delayed by one more week and would now be releasing on 2nd December, it reliably learnt. The producer has already started blocking main cinema halls for the film’s release in the first week of December.
Selvaa has also confirmed the same. Interestingly Richa also happens to be heroine of Simbu’s Osthi.
