At an era when actresses are more conscious than ever about their age and never seem to ‘grow’ beyond their twenties, sexy Sameera comes across as a breath of fresh air. The actress celebrated her 30th birthday recently and looks fit as a fiddle. Thanks to a wrinkle-free face which is Nature’s gift to her. Sameera is looking forward to playing a long innings in Kollywood.
Sameera, as readers are aware, debuted as one of Suriya’s heroine in Gautham Menon’s emotional, musical hit Vaaranam Aayiram more than 3 years back. Shen then went on to star in films like Asal and Nadunisi Naaygal. Due to her extra-ordinary height, she couldn’t be paired opposite many of today’s heroes. In her upcoming film Vedi, though, she gets to pair up with Vishal who matches her height.
She also has Vettai opposite Madhavan in her kitty. The film, which is directed by Lingusamy after his super-duper hit film Paiyaah last year, also has Aarya and Amala Paul as the other pair. At a recent shooting schedule of the film, she celebrated her 30th birthday in style. She has great regard for Tamil films and has gone on record more than once that starring in Tamil films has been a satisfactory experience for her.
On a request from her mentor Gautham Menon, she has reportedly played a guest role in his upcoming film Needhanae En Ponvasantham (NEP) which is being made bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. NEP stars Jiiva and Menon’s other favourite Samantha in lead roles. This is the first time that Jiiva stars in Menon’s direction and opposite Samantha.
The crew of Vedi is all praise for Sameera (‘Sam’ to her close friends) for her cooperation in completing the film in quick time. Director Prabhudeva has filmed two songs at the last schedule of the film’s shoot held recently in snow-clad Ladakh. Sam, who had lived in Mumbai and other places of the country, was the only member of the crew of 30 who didn’t fall ill after reaching Ladakh. The film has music by Vijay Antony and might be released a fortnight before Deepavali.
Sam’s fitness prompted Prabhudeva to remark at a recent press-meet that ‘she is even fit to join the Indian Army’!
