Sameera Reddy turns Gautham Menon’s assistant director for NEP

It’s a widely agreed fact that assistant directors in all language film industries play a bigger (and mostly unsung) part in the success of many leading and upcoming film directors’ lives. Yet, when the assistant director happens to be a sizzler and as hot-looking as Sameera Reddy, it would require quite an effort from the director and the crew to concentrate on the movie they are making.

Sexy Sameera Reddy is presently ‘working’ as ace director Gautham Vasudev Menon’s assistant director in the upcoming bilingual film Needhanae En Ponvasantham (NEP) which stars Jiiva and Samantha in lead roles. On a roll in the past one-and-a-half years, Jiiva has been starring in major films made by prominent directors ever since the success of Ko early last year.

In order to give vent to her directorial instincts, Sameera is playing a dutiful assistant director to Menon on the sets of NEP. Sameera, who considers Menon her mentor for introducing her in Tamil through a memorable role in the Suriya-starrer Vaaranam Aayiram, later played the heroine in the thriller Nadunisi Naaygal too.

Reports said some time back that Menon was also recommending her name to many directors. Fresh from the success of her latest film Vettai in which she was paired up opposite Maddy, Sameera is working as Menon’s assistant in NEP besides playing a small yet significant role in the film.

The film has music by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja. This is the first time in his decade-long career in Kollywood that Menon has roped in Isaignani to score music for one of his films.
