Ace director K.S. Ravikumar, who launched ‘Rana’ with superstar Rajini in the lead playing triple roles, has dismissed rumours which appeared in a section of the press that the high-profile and high-budget ‘Rana’ has been abandoned in view of the ill-health and the subsequent hospitalization of superstar Rajini.
The film was launched at a glittering ceremony on 29th April in Chennai at Rajini’s favourite spot at the AVM studios. Some sequences featuring Rajini and his leading lady Deepika Padukone were also canned. That evening, Rajini fell ill and was hospitalized where he remained for a couple of days. He was again admitted to the same hospital the succeeding week too.
At present, Rajini is at the SRMC, Porur where he is undergoing treatment besides taking rest. Ravikumar dismisses reports which appeared in the English press that the Rs.100-crore ‘Rana’ has been abandoned in view of Rajini’s falling health and said that the film has neither been abandoned nor the shooting has been suspended.
“We were shooting portions requiring Deepika’s presence and other sequences. Now, we have decided to go for a break and start shooting by July. I had recently been to Thailand and London for ‘location-hunting’ and appeal to the fans of the superstar not to believe news reports that the shooting of the film has been abandoned. The film is very much on,” assures Ravikumar.
