After superstar Rajinikanth’s Rana was ‘abandoned’ for the time being just prior to the star starting to shoot for his upcoming venture Kochadaiyaan a couple of months back, the film is back in the news. Director K.S. Ravikumar, who was to direct Rana, has gone on air saying that the film is very much in the offing and would be launched by the year-end.
Ravikumar is presently assisting Soundarya as she debuts as director with Kochadaiyaan. Ravikumar is penning the story, dialogues and screenplay of the film besides assisting and guiding Soundarya whenever required. Ravikumar, who has made a couple of blockbuster movies starring Rajinikanth in the form of Muthu and Padaiyappa, knows a thing or two about what the audience expects from him!
The late and legendary comedian Nagesh would be part of the cast of Kochadaiyaan. Sequences involving Nagesh, who has starred in many movies with Rajini, are being shot using animation technology. Talking about this addition of the ‘late’ actor to the film’s script, Ravikumar says “A character which plays Rajini’s uncle is in the film which won’t be suitable to Santhanam or any other in the present set of comedians.
“Therefore, we decided to ‘bring back’ Nagesh for this role. It’s a challenging sequence in the film for which Soundarya and her team has worked really hard to ensure that this particular sequence look as realistic as possible on screen,” said Ravikumar and added that Rana hasn’t been abandoned and is very much on. The shoot of Rana would commence once Rajini completes Kochadaiyaan, he informed.
He also added that senior comedians Vivek and Vadivelu would be part of the cast of Rana.
