Superstar Rajinikanth’s fans in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere are rejoicing about the fact that their ‘Thalaivar’ is back in Chennai and is slowly but surely regaining his health. The star, who has the wherewithal to give top political leaders a run for their money when it comes to popularity among the masses, is likely to (re)start the shooting schedule of his film ‘Rana’ in a month or so.
In the meantime, reports appearing in the Telugu press claim that Popular Telugu director Puri Jagannath might succeed in his efforts to convince the superstar to star in the Tamil and Telugu bilingual remake of the Bollywood hit film ‘Buddah Hoga Tera Baap’. The Bollywood version had the Big B playing the title role and did reasonably well when it released a couple of months back.
Puri is reportedly under the impression that except, no other actor can do full justice to the role of the protagonist, played every so gracefully by the ageing Bachchan in the original version. The reports further say that Puri has already ‘sounded’ Rajini about the script and had got a ‘positive’ response. It is, therefore, being speculated that Rajini might star in the bilingual project, though no official word is out as on date.
The superstar, though, is focusing all his energies in his upcoming film ‘Rana’ and is said to be holding periodical discussions with director K.S. Ravikumar in this regard. Just in case Rajini starts shooting simultaneously for ‘Rana’ and the Tamil-Telugu bilingual, then the Tamil and Telugu audience would be in for a double treat and can rest assured that they might get to watch some awesome performance from their matinee idol!
