It still remains a rumour but is strongly believed in Kollywood that ace director Maniratnam has roped in Priyanka Chopra to play a major role in his upcoming film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, based on the novel of the same titled penned by the legendary literary writer Kalki.
Mani has already finalized casting Vijay, Tollywood’s Mahesh Babu, Sathyaraj, Arya and Anushka in the film, which is expected to cost him more than Rs.100 crores. After making several films like ‘Thalapathi’ and ‘Raavan’ with elements of history or mythology, this time the ace director is planning a full-fledged adaptation of the novel.
Vijay will play the courageous warrior Vallavarayan Vandiyatheyan while Mahesh Babu has been drafted in to play Aditha Karikalan, the Chola Prince. Arya will play the central character of Arulmozhi Varman in this film, which has Anushka as Mahesh Babu’s younger sister and Vijay’s love interest.
It is now said that the director has approached Priyanka Chopra, who won the national award for best actress for her role in ‘Fashion’ two years back, to play a prominent role in the film.
