The swords are out on either side, now that the ‘split’ between actress Nayanthara and her ex-beau Prabhu Deva has come out in the open. The actress, who had been in love with the bearded Prabhu Deva for the past three-and-a-half years, is now out of the relationship and has announced recently that she is available to star in Telugu and Tamil films.

Though many reasons are attributed for the split, it is rumoured that Prabhu Deva’s reported proximity with another ‘woman’ was also one of the major factors which brought the curtains down in the affair. Nayan went out of her way and even converted to Hinduism in order to marry Prabhu Deva and offered to quit the industry as an actress at a time when her career was on an all-time high both in Kollywood and Tollywood.

Prabhu Deva appeared to be not making any serious effort to marry her which forced her to get back to films, say sources close to Nayan’s family. They have leveled various allegations against Prabhu Deva. Nayan’s Uncle, Aunty and other relatives, who reside in Kerala’s Tiruvalla (the actress’ native place), have accused Prabhu Deva of ‘having looted’ their dear daughter.

“Nayan is a nice girl who had been brought up by us from childhood. She is an innocent girl and not an adamant character as is made out by the press. She has the habit of believing everybody at face value and doesn’t dig deep into their characters. She was first cheated by Simbu and now by Prabhu Deva. The whole world knows who ‘financed’ Prabhu Deva when he divorced Ramalat.

“Nayan even financed him when he made Engeyum Kaadhal last year. It appears that he was intent mainly in spending her money and didn’t have any real affection or love for her. When she said that she won’t act in films, he might have thought that she might not be able to give him money in future. When she quits films, we’re ready to select a suitable groom for her from our own circle of relatives and friends,” they said.
