Lakshmi Rai is said to be extremely upset with Uma Krishnan, mother of fellow actress Trisha, for reportedly spreading false rumours about her. As readers are aware, Trisha and Lakshmi Rai were ill at ease with themselves with they starred together in last year’s successful Ajith-starrer Mankatha.
Lakshmi Rai’s statement that she was the one who was originally approached for Trisha’s role in the film didn’t go down well with Trisha, who starred as one of the four heroines in the film. In the mean time, rumours said that Lakshmi Rai refused to pair up opposite heroes like Jiiva and Karthi. Rai claims that these were ‘purposely’ planted in the media by Uma Krishnan.
Commenting about the rumours, she says “It’s a fact that I and Trisha didn’t gel well during the shoot of Mankatha. I put everything behind and took part in some public functions with Trisha. This being the case, Trisha’s mother Uma is unnecessarily dragging the matter further by spreading all sorts of false rumours about me which is highly condemnable.
“I never said that I won’t pair up opposite Jiiva and Karthi. I only refused the film offers because I felt that the roles offered to me lacked substance,” says Rai, who is having the best phase in her career in Tamil and Telugu films at present. Meanwhile, she has also been cast as actor-director SJ Suriyah’s comeback film Isai as his heroine. Suriyah is likely to make his debut as music director with this film.
