Kamal Haasan’s magnum opus Viswaroopam might hit the screens towards the end of June, it is reliably learnt. The film, which is directed and produced by Kamal Haasan, has been in the making for the past six months or so. The film was to be directed by Selvaraghavan who later opted out of the film while the producer too followed suit. Kamal then took over the twin responsibility of directing and producing the film on behalf of his Rajkamal Films International in association with PVP Cinemas.
The film stars Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jermaiah as Kamal’s leading ladies and has music by the trio of Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. The theatrical trailer and still photos of the film was released a couple of weeks back, sending the actors’ fans into a delirious mood. Kamal is said to have sent an ‘uncensored’ copy of the film to the Cannes Film Festival, one of the most popular film festivals held around the globe.
The film’s promotional campaign is likely to start later this week as the film is to be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions. With the shoot of the film having been wrapped up, Kamal is camping in U.S. to take care of the post-production work including background music, editing, re-recording and dubbing work. The ‘special effects’ planned by him are also being carried out at hectic pace.
Kamal has already screened the film for the benefit of popular Hollywood film-maker Barry Osborne. In fact, this paved way for rumours which claimed that Kamal might soon star in a ‘direct’ Hollywood film to be directed by Osborne. The audio-launch of the film is likely to be held in the first week of June to be followed by the film’s theatrical release in the last week. Kamal has also penned a couple of lyrics in the film.
