Actor Jayaram almost touched the feet of a scribe as if to ask him to ‘excuse’ him when the latter asked him about this comments on the contentious Mullai Periyar Dam issue which has been threatening to cause disharmony among the people of the States of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Jayaram found himself in an unsavoury controversy a couple of years back when he made the infamous comment about the colour of skin of Tamil women and Keralite women. Ever since the controversy erupted, Jayaram has been keeping a low profile as far as Kollywood moves and functions are concerned.
Thousands of Tamil pilgrims visit Sabarimala temple every year from various parts of Tamil Nadu. Reports have been appearing in some sections of the press claiming sporadic attacks on Tamil pilgrims by those in Kerala as a fall-out of the Mullai Periyar Dam issue. The actor visited the Sabarimala Temple recently and was confronted by a journalist when he emerged out of the temple.
When the journalist asked Jayaram as to what was his opinion about the on-going Dam issue between the two States, Jayaram touched the scribe’s feet, excused himself and left the place in a hurry. The actor appeared to be extremely cautious in not getting into any fresh controversy.
Readers might recall that Jayaram has starred in many Tamil movies including Thenali and Panchathanthiram with Kamal Haasan.
