Latest reports emanating from Kollywood say that noted director Gandhi Krishna, who has made films like Vishal’s debut film Chellamae and the Tamannaah-starrer Anandathandavam, is on collision course with a debutant director named Kannan, as both of them vie for hounours claiming that the story of actor Vikram’s upcoming film Karikaalan belongs to them.
It is said that some time back, Gandhi Krishna met L.I. Kannan, who has just come into the industry from the background of his computer profession, to discuss in detail about the story of Karikaalan. It is said that in their successive meetings about the making of the film, they finalized matters such as casting, camera angles, locations for the shoot and the screenplay of the film.
It is also said that Kannan went to the press all of a sudden announcing that he was making Karikaalan with Vikram in the lead and that it would have a triumvirate of heroines in Bollywood’s Zareen Khan, Mollywood’s Mithra Kurian (who played the second heroine in the Vijay-Asin starrer Kaavalan early this year) and Radhika Aapte. Krishna was reportedly taken aback by Kannan’s act of announcing the film’s launch after coming to him for discussing the nuances of the film.
Kannan, on his part, maintains that he took advices from Gandhi Krishna as he was his ‘senior’ in the industry. “No doubt I discussed the script of the film with him; however, it’s an indisputable fact that the script of Karikaalan was mine and was borne out of my own imagination,” says a confident-looking Kannan.
