Contrary to the news reports which appeared in the media earlier, it now appears that Simbu’s Osthi and Dhanush’s Mayakkam Enna might not be releasing on the eve of Deepavali. The demand in getting main cinema halls is said to be the main reason. The other reason being cited is that both the stars don’t want to risk their films amid stiff competition.
Suriya’s 7aam Arivu, directed by A.R. Murugadoss and produced by Udhayanidhi’s Red Giant Movies, is hitting the theatres in maximum number of screens. The film also marks Shruti Haasan, the stunning-looking daughter of Kamal Haasan, as heroine in Kollywood.
Another biggie for this Deepavali is the Vijay-starrer Velayudham which is directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja and stars Genelia and Hansika as his heroines. Mayakkam Enna has been directed by Dhanush’s elder brother and director Selvaraghavan while Dharani, who has made films like Ghilli, Dhool and Dil, has directed Simbu’s Osthi. As most of the ‘leading’ cinema halls have been allotted to 7am Arivu and Velayudham, Simbu and Dhanush have reportedly decided to postpone the release of their films beyond Deepavali.
The Hindi film Ra. One, which stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles and has superstar Rajinikanth in a ‘special appearance’, has also got many number of screens for its theatrical release.
