Though no official announcement has been made about it, it is said that director Shankar is planning a big-budget film starring Vikram in the lead. It may be recalled that the last time Shankar and Vikram came together, it was for the mega-hit Anniyan which released in 2005. Vikam play triple roles in the film which was one of the most successful films in his career.
It is said that Shankar is planning to cast Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone opposite Vikram in his proposed film. Deepika, who was earlier cast opposite superstar Rajinikanth in his now-abandoned Rana, is paired opposite Rajini in his upcoming film Kochadaiyan. In all probability, Shankar’s second film with Vikram is likely to be Deepika’s second film in Tamil after Kochadaiyan.
Much is expected from the combination of Shankar, easily the highest paid director in the country, and Vikram, the national award-winning actor. After working with Harris Jayaraj in Nanban early this year, Shankar is all set to go back to A.R. Rahman who might compose music for his new film.
The film is planned as a trilingual in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Deepika couldn’t have asked for a better opening in Tamil after the mega-project Kochadaiyanopposite Rajinikanth, sources close to her point out and say that she is in talks with Shankar and hasn’t yet signed along the dotted lines.
