Vijay has just returned from Shanghai, China where he had been to take part in an international film festival where his latest film ‘Kaavalan’ was screened with English and Chinese sub-titles. Vijay was overwhelmed by the response to his film by the Chinese and even delivered a speech for the sake of the audience at the end of the screening of the film.
The audio-launch of his upcoming film ‘Velayutham‘ has been scheduled to be held on 5th July. The event had been postponed at least twice in the past due to various reasons. Produced by Ravichandran’s Ascar Films, the film pits Genelia and Hansika opposite him as his heroines while Saranya Mohan plays his younger sister. The film has been directed by ‘Jeyam’ Raja.
Vijay’s string of failures in the past few years was broken by ‘Kaavalan’ early this year, which was a box-office success. As such, expectations from his fans are high on ‘Velayudham’, billed as a ‘typical’ commercial film. With Raja at the helm of affairs, the film is expected to be a right mix of action, sentiment, romance and comic sequences.
The album, which has music by Vijay Antony, has seven numbers including a customary ‘item’ song. The opening song of Vijay is said to have been shot at an expenditure of Rs.2 crores. Reports say that Amma, who was approached by Vijay’s father and director S.A. Chandrasekaran to preside over the audio launch, had politely turned down the offer.
