Director Bala has a very different work culture compared to others. He goes in for a detailed planning prior to launching his films and more often than not sticks to those plans while the film is being shot. His latest directorial venture Avan Ivan starring Vishal and Aarya in lead roles released a few months back and earned critical acclaim from the critics and the media besides turning out to be a successful venture at the box-office.
Not the one to rest on his laurels for long, Bala has started the preparatory work for his next film. Trade sources say that the film is likely to star the lanky Atharva, son of the late actor Murali, in the lead role. Heroes vie with each other to get a chance to star in Bala’s films as along with the likes of Maniratnam, Shankar and Gautham Menon, Bala has carved a niche for himself in Kollywood.
After resting for a few months post the release of Avan Ivan, Bala is on the move again. Bala has the reputation of making stars out of actors and usually prefer to choose those actors whom he believes would follow his instructions in a non-confrontational manner. Going by what’s been happening for the past few days, it appears that Atharva has ‘lady luck’ smiling on him!
Atharva debuted as hero with last year’s Baana Kathadi. Ironically enough, his debut film turned out to be the last film of his father and actor Murali. It is said that recently, Atharva got a call from Bala’s office for a chat. After speaking to him for some time, Bala had reportedly told him not to accept any new film after wrapping up his Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal which is under production, throwing enough hints that Atharva might star in his next film.
A thrilled Atharva paid obeisance to Bala before returning from his office. Other details such as the title, the heroine and music director would be announced by Bala himself after some time.
