Producer-director Lingusamy is said to be toying with the idea of directing the remake of the Bollywood super-hit film Raajneeti (Politics) which was directed by Prakash Jha and was released last year. The film starred Bollywood’s reigning queen Katrina Kaif in the lead role of a female politician and also starred stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah and Arjun Rampal in lead roles.
Sources say that as if now, it has been decided that Aarya would play in the Tamil version the role played by Ranbir Kapoor in the original. It is also said that Madhavan, Sathyaraj, Prakashraj and Raj Bharath would be playing the roles essayed by the quartet of Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah and Arjun Rampal, in that order.
It has been rumoured for the past few months in Kollywood that either Shankar or Lingusamy might agree to direct the Tamil remake of Rajneeti. It’s also said that it’s highly unlikely that Shankar, who is presently directing the Tamil film Nanban (a remake of the Hindi super-hit 3 Idiots), might go for another remake film in succession after completing Nanban.
As such, the mantle might finally fall on Lingusamy, who is presently giving finishing touches to his upcoming directorial venture Vettai starring Madhavan, Aarya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in lead roles. As far as the remake of Rajneeti, a political thriller, it hasn’t yet been decided as to who would be playing Katrina Kaif’s role in Tamil.
