Actress Anushka is undoubtedly one of the top heroines in both Tamil films as well as Telugu films. The actress has just had successive hits in Tamil in ‘Vaanam’ and the latest ‘Deiva Thirumagal’. While ‘Vaanam’ was a multi-starrer which had Simbu, Bharath, Sonia Aggarwal, Vega and Praksahraj, ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ had Anushka portraying the powerful role of an advocate. Vikram and Amala Paul were her co-stars in the film.
She debuted in Tamil films with ‘Rendu’ opposite Madhavan a few years back. As the film didn’t do well, she moved to Tollwood where ‘Arundhati’ (2009) made her a house-hold name. Then she made a comeback in Tamil films with Vijay’s ‘Vettaikkaran’ and also starred opposite Suriya in the successful ‘Singam’ directed by Hari.
Anushka’s depiction of a determined lawyer who was out to rescue the 5-year old daughter of a person with ‘special needs’ (whose mental maturity was also that of a 5-year old) has won her appreciation from all quarters. The film’s success has put her among the top heroines in Kollywood. Reports say that the long-legged beauty is all set to make her foray into the world of Kannada films too.
The Kannada remake of the Telugu hit ‘Darling’ which had Prabhas and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead could mark Anushka’s entry into Sandalwood. The Kannada version has Darshan as the hero. While Kajal was the first choice to play the heroine in the Kannada version too, she has reportedly declined the offer for some ‘unavoidable’ reasons. It is said that Anushka has been approached to play the heroine in the film.
The makers of the film are hopeful of a positive reply from the Shetty girl!
