Anjali replaces Amala Paul in Venkatesh-starrer Telugu Film

Anjali Amala Paul

Anjali has signed up a Telugu film after a long time. The talented Anjali, born in Andhra’s Rajahmundry, started her career as an actress with a couple of Telugu films in 2006 and 2007 and then shifted to Kollywood in 2007 to make her debut as heroine in Tamil films opposite Jiiva in the critically acclaimed Katradhu Tamizh.

Director Vasanthabalan’s Angaadi Theru, which released in early 2010, changed Anjali’s career altogether. The actress who had been struggling to get film offers found herself getting flooded with new film offers after the success of Angaadi Theru which also won her the ‘Filmfare best actress’ award in 2011. She then starred in hit films like Ajith’s Mankatha and debutant director Saravanan’s Engeyum Eppodhum.

She now goes back to her roots by taking up the Telugu film offer in a Venkatesh-Mahesh Babu starrer ‘Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ to be directed by Srikanth Addala. It is said that Anjali has taken on a role which had earlier been offered to and rejected by Anushka, Trisha and Amala Paul as the role required them to play Mahesh Babu’s sister-in-law.

The film has Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu playing brothers and as such, whoever pairs up opposite Venkatesh would obviously be Mahesh’s sister-in-law in the film. Anushka and Trisha, who had earlier paired up opposite Mahesh in a few films, didn’t want the ‘promotion’ as his filmy sister-in-law. Later Amala Paul, who was approached for the role opposite Venkatesh, agreed and did star in the photo-shoot but excused herself out of the project at the last minute. Samantha plays Mahesh’s love interest in the film.

Producer Dilraju and director Venkatesh have rope in Anjali who is now likely to solve their casting problems!
