The talk doing rounds in Kollywood is that the bearded Ameer might rope in Ilayathalapathy Vijay to play the lead role in his next directorial venture. Ameer, who has made some memorable films in ‘Paruthiveeran’, ‘Raam’ and ‘Mounam Pesiyadhae’ in the past, is presently making ‘Aadhibagawan’ which stars ‘Jeyam’ Ravi and hottie Neetu Chandra in lead roles.
Last year, Ameer dabbled in acting by playing hero in the film ‘Yogi’, which was directed by his good friend Subramaniam Siva. He then appeared in a song in ‘Yudhdham Sei’ which starred Cheran in the lead and was directed by Mysskin. Ameer’s portion in the film was restricted to a solo ‘item’ song with Neetu Chandra. The song Kattumara Kannaa featuring the odd pair of Ameer and Neetu went on to become a huge hit with the masses.
Thanks to the rapport he struck with Neetu Chandra during the filming of the song, Ameer cast her as the heroine opposite ‘Jeyam’ Ravi in ‘Aadhibagawan’. The film, which has ‘Jayam’ Ravi in a never-before seen role, has also given him a ‘tough’ look, vastly different from the soft, romantic roles that he plays quite often. Ravi himself has gone on record saying that Ameer’s film would be in contrast to his latest release ‘Engeyum Kaadhal’, a pure romantic script.
It was earlier said that Ameer might repeat Ravi again for his ‘Kannabiran’ but reports say that Ameer would go with Vijay to play the lead role in ‘Kannabiran’. Vijay, who is presently busy with films like ‘Velayudham’ and Shankar’s ‘Nanban’, would be starting work for ‘Kannabiran’ after completing the shooting schedule of the above-said films.
Won’t it be interesting to see Vijay directed by Ameer?
