It has been rumoured strongly in Kollywood that in case the makers of Ajith’s Yennai Arindhaal don’t manage to get the requisite number of halls for releasing the film during Pongal, they might opt for a postponement and release it during Republic Day.
Ajith’s films are known for their ‘tremendous openings’ and the crowd thronging theatres to watch his films in the very first week give ample proof to the trade pundits to decide about the volume of success of the film. Distributors and theatre-owners are, therefore, willing to take up release of Ajith’s films in a big manner.
At the same time, they are apprehensive that Yennai Arindhaal may not get its desired theatres as Shankar’s much-delayed I is also releasing on Pongal or a few days before Pongal. In case Ajith’s film doesn’t get a minimum of 450 halls, its release on Pongal would be postponed, it is further informed.
In all probability, I is expected to do well in theatres which would mean that even if it releases a week ahead of Pongal, theatres screening it won’t be available for Ajith’s film to be screened during Pongal.
