Mallika Sherawat, the Bollywood bombshell and one of the country’s most sought-after ‘item girls’, is playing a vamp in the upcoming Kannada film Yaaradre Nanagenu. The film is directed by S.K. Basheed which also has Nisha Kothari playing a cop. Readers might recall Nisha, who debuted as Amoha in Jay Jay opposite Madhavan many years back. She was also seen in an ‘item number’ in Jiiva’s Katcheri Aarambam in the year 2010.
Popular Kannada actress Rishika Singh plays the heroine in the film, which was launched recently at a studio in Bangalore. The poster of Rishika Singh which was released on the occasion has now created huge furore all over the State. Rishika, whose nude body was covered only with paint and no other garment, left little to imagination in the still released to publicise the film.
The poster, which appeared in almost all the major dailies and other magazines, has become a hot topic of discussion. Many women’s rights activists have gone up in arms against Rishika for posing nude. They held placards condemning the photograph and shouted slogans condemning her in front of the Kanteerava Studio and later submitted a memorandum to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.
Unfazed by the protests, Rishika said that she was only doing what she was asked to do. Speaking to media-persons later, she said that she represented only the ‘Mother Earth’ and added that she posed so as the sequence demanded her to do so.
