Bangalore beauty Nicole Faria has made India proud by winning the 2010 Miss Earth crown.

Many hopes were shattered when The Miss World and Miss Universe 2010 titles slipped out of India’s hands. But spirits are rejuvenated when the Miss Earth title which was held in Nha Trang, Vietnam on December 4, 2010 was bagged by the bold and beautiful Nicole Faria who has previously won the Miss India (South) in December 2009 and later Miss India Earth in April 2010.Nicole who is just 20, belongs to the beautiful city of Bangalore and this is what she had to say,

“It’s a great honor to be listed among the most beautiful women like Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen and I am well aware that there is a huge responsibility that comes with the title. I’m surely looking forward to the future with all spotlights on me.”

Faria’s success has come as no surprise to her family who are well acquainted with her winning ways and her belief in the adage “I know I can”.

“We knew she would win. We were hardly surprised,” says George Pearson, Nicole’s uncle, whose prediction that she would win came true last night when she clinched the Miss Earth title in a glitzy ceremony in Vietnam.

The Miss Earth already has some neat plans listed out, “I really want to contribute for the development of a better environment by initiating policies to increase the presence of green areas. I also have a plan to set up an agency with cycle rickshaws in Bangalore ensuring a pollution free city while offering genuine support to the rickshaw pullers and their families.” she said.

Well those eco friendly plans really sound good let’s hope they don’t fall into the ‘easier said than done’ category of plans.
